Only God Can Judge Me!

Only God can judge me.  How many times have you heard people say this? How many times have you said it yourself? I’ve even seen it tattooed on bodies. While this statement is partly true and somewhat biblical, I can’t help but ask, do you really want Him too? What will he say to you when you stand before him on judgment day? Will he say well done my good and faithful servant or will he say depart from me...?

Matthew 7:1 says, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.” This bible verse is one of the most quoted yet one of the most misunderstood. People often think this means that no one else can judge or correct us, but God. It is true that we must all answer to His judgment. He will reveal our every careless word and our every sinful action, our true character!

I tell you on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned Matthew 12:36-37

Friends don’t let the “Only God Can Judge Me” movement be your excuse for not allowing those who love you and care about you reach out to you and give correction. Correction hurts, but is necessary for our walk with God.

Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from the enemy. Proverbs 27:6

Exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

Hebrews 3:13

It is our duty as Christians to give and receive correction with love and to give and receive encouragement to live the Christian life. This is one of the most loving things we can do.
