The Voice of reason

Some time ago I received a Thank You note from a friend. The note was very eloquently written and included this phrase, "thank you for being our voice of reason". While I took that as the compliment it was meant to be I also began to wonder what exactly does being the voice of reason mean? This is what I found. The voice of reason is used to refer to someone who usually can be counted on to discuss matters in a reasonable way; a person who speaks for the rational, prudent action among people who are behaving irrationally.

It was good to know I had a voice and that my voice mattered. Then I asked myself these questions. Does my voice line up with God's? Is my voice a reflection of Him? Do those around me hear the voice of God through me? Does my voice point people to the Lord?

God is looking for people to be HIS VOICE. Why? Well, just look around you, today other voices are drowning out His and when His voice is removed darkness is mistaken for light. We must break the silence and be a voice of reason. We must be HIS voice.
While having a voice in a group of friends, co-workers, or family is great we must remember He has called us to be His voice! In the book of Luke the Lord tells us he will equip us for this task.
For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. Luke 21:15

Friends we must also recognize that while we have a voice, God's voice is the ONLY VOICE that has all the power and authority in heaven and on earth! Not a single word of His will be void, wasted, or fall to the ground empty His voice will be "heard like thunder over the mighty waters", one way or another.

The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the GOD of glory thunders, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic. The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. The voice of the LORD strikes with flashes of lightning. The voice of the LORD shakes the desert; the LORD shakes the Desert of Kadesh. The voice of the LORD twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in his temple all cry, Glory! Psalm 29:3-9

Friends what He commands to happen will happen! Let us be the voice of reason in the group and lets use our voice and cry, GLORY!
